Njoro MP joins efforts in addressing Triple Threat

Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi has joined efforts addressing Triple Threat challenge in Njoro Constituency.

Addressing during an event held at St. Joseph Catholic church, larmudiac, Kathambi stated that there is need to address the same that has challenged many young people and families.

“I was delighted to host the National Syndemic Desease Control council team to Njoro constituency. We engaged Community leaders and Njoro residents as we continue the journey that we begun about three years ago in exploring ways of tackling the worrying trend of new HIV infections, teen pregnancies and sexual and gender-based violence among adolescents and young people,” stated Kathambi.

During the meeting, Kathambi had golden opportunity of engaging the audience in an insightful question and answer session, on tackling the worrying trend of new HIV infections and teen pregnancies.

“I’m excited about the commitment plan that mobilises stakeholders and to accelerate efforts towards eliminating these vices. We can’t afford to sit comfortably when the lives of our young boys and girls are ruined by vices that we can prevent,” stated Kathambi.

She added that the time has come for everyone to stand up, transform commitments to action and say no to the TRIPLE THREAT.

“We need a bold, innovative spirit and dedication to move beyond our comfort zone and dare to things differently,” she said.

During the meeting, it was agreed;
1. Community gatekeepers, including religious leaders, are encouraged to create awareness of the three vices.
2. Uninterrupted education is critical for preparing young women to make meaningful contribution to the economy. We should thus ensure that girls already affected remain in school by following the National guidelines for re-entry in Early learning and Basic Education.

The chief guest was Representative of Dr. Ruth Laibon masha- CEO National syndemic Deseases council.

Those who addressed the event were county AIDS and STI coordinator and county GBV Coordinator, Chief officer, Nakuru county, among others.

Other leaders present were Njoro DCC Mr. David Mbevi, the clergy, Njoro security team and local administration.
