Nakuru County is among 5 counties that will benefit from the launched USAID- funded United Society Against Fraud, Waste and Abuse(USAWA) Program aimed to improve service delivery in health sector.
Other counties to benefit include Isiolo, Kakamega, Kilifi and Mombasa.
The Project is being implemented by Transparency International Kenya in collaboration with other partners.
Speaking in Naivasha sub county on Friday May 10, 2024 during inception meeting that brought together members of the Nakuru County Civil Society Organizations Forum (NACCSOF), Programs Officer at Transparency International Kenya Mr.Alex Yator called on CSOs to join hands in ensuring efficiency in service delivery towards a better society.
Yator revealed that the implementation of USAID- funded USAWA Project in Nakuru county will go a long way in ensuring the same.
“As Transparency International Kenya, we shall be implementing this Project in Nakuru and 4 other counties with support of CSOs,” he stated.
According to Yator, this is a 5-year Project that will also ensure value for money in all health projects by addressing the gaps that have been there in terms of service delivery and help the County Government come up with proper policies in the health sector.
Sentiments echoed by Kemunche Masese and Buncy Kubutha from Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance(CEDGG) and Centre for Transformational Leadership(CTL) respectively.
The duo who are also the Co-conveners of NACCSOF, noted that when every coin spent on projects can be accounted for, then Kenyans will feel value for money as taxpayers.
They vowed to work closely with Transparency International Kenya towards ensuring the Project achieves the desired outcomes that will inform decision making at the County Government level and nation as a whole.
On his part, Amos Manyara- the CEO Nakuru Endelevu Trust Initiative(NETI) challenged the CSOs present during the meeting to awaken their conscience towards a better society.
After the meeting, members of the CSOs also engaged in a tree planting exercise as per Government’s call to Kenyans.
