There is need for more awareness on importance of breastfeeding for newborns.
This was echoed as Nakuru County joined the world in commemorating World Breastfeeding Week under the theme ‘Closing the Gap, Breastfeeding for All’.
During the event, it was revealed that the county government of Nakuru has stepped up to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding practices throughout the week since August 1, 2024.
This, even as Nutrition Officers and healthcare workers teamed up at Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital to educate patients and visitors about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding during health talks.
Statistics indicate that Breastfeeding provides essential nutrients, strengthens the immune system, and fosters a strong bond between mother and child.
The County Government through the Department of Health has urged members of the public to keep spreading the word and closing the gap for better health for all.
