All is set for the commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28, 2024.
Nakuru County will commemorate the day tomorrow(Tuesday) in Gilgil Sub County at Highway Primary.
In a statement to Newsrooms, all is set for the day that is marked global.
The event is celebrated to raise awareness and address the challenges faced by many girls regarding menstrual hygiene management.
In preparation for this important day, the County Public Health Officer, George Gachomba, alongside School Health Coordinator, Mary Mucheru, have received a generous consignment of 237 packs of sanitary pads.
Also accompanying the team, the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Focal Person, Caroline Vata said the essential supplies will be distributed to vulnerable girls across various sub-counties, ensuring they have the necessary resources to manage their menstrual health with dignity and comfort.
This consignment has been graciously supported by the USAID Tujenge Jamii Sub Award.
The consignment extended beyond sanitary pads to include soaps and boxers for boys, recognizing the holistic approach needed to support young students’ overall hygiene and health.
