Nakuru Town West Member of Parliament Samuel Arama has called for concerted effort towards a lasting solution to effects of floods in some parts of Nakuru West Constituency.
Speaking in Kaptembwa on Saturday when he visited assess the effects of floods, the MP noted that over 1000 families have already been affected.
According to Arama, some areas in Nakuru West seem to be sitting on fault line of the volcanic activities in Nakuru.
He assured that he will be engaging Governor Susan Kihika to see how the crisis in Nakuru West can be addressed.
The Lawmaker who was accompanied by Francis Njoroge from the Governor’s office, Nakuru West Sub county security team led by Deputy County Commissioner and Sub county Police Commander among others, was categorical that those affected should be assisted through aid program.
He added that through working together with County Government of Nakuru, the drainage in Nakuru West shall be done afresh to ensure smooth flow of flood water.
“We shall be talking to Governor so that we can address this issue of drainage in Nakuru West so that we avert the issue of water collecting at one point and leading to collapse and submerging of buildings,” he said.
With records of those affected in Nakuru West already in place, the MP said they will trace everyone including those who had shifted so that they can be assisted.
