The first anniversary of the late David Chepkwony- husband to Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi Chepkwony was on Saturday August 17, 2024 held at Kimugul Primary School in Mauche Ward of Njoro Constituency.
The event was attended by among other Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and spouse Dorcas Rigathi.
In line with the Charity work that the late Chepkwony was involved in among others sponsoring needy students, the anniversary saw the Deputy President announce the launch of Kathambi Chepkwony Foundation.
Speaking during the event, Njoro MP Charity Kathambi recalled how her late Husband had love for the family and Community at large helping various vulnerable groups among them widows.
Kathambi noted that the launch of the Foundation will go a long way in ensuring support to widows, PWDs, needy students and other vulnerable groups.
She called on all leaders to emulate love and peace characters from her late Husband.
There was also a light moment when MP Kathambi recalled how at her early marriage life, she had difficulty in understanding some of the Kalenjin culture pertaining women and men in society.
The Lawmaker used the moment to call on those getting into marriage Institution to also have time and understand the culture they are getting into.
Kathambi also used the moment to call for cohesiveness towards prosperity.
“My husband was loving and thats why he was even able to assist many students by paying their few from his pocket,” she stated
The Lawmaker called on those willing to assist through the Foundation to make a visit to the office so that things can be done professionally.
DP Rigathi Gachagua and his Spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi on their part lauded the family for continued support to various groups on society.
The Deputy President reiterated that leadership is all about finding solutions to the problems facing the people in society.
The DP lauded MP Kathambi for the work she has continued to work in Njoro since her election.
According to him, role he played in seeking votes for Kathambi was not not in vain as she has not failed.
He called on the MP to continue preaching peace in Njoro and Kenya as a whole.
“As MP for Njoro, you have never failed us. Continue with same spirit and we shall support you as a government,” stated Gachagua.
Meanwhile, he revealed that the issues of Njoro among them caveate will be sorted out once and for all.
He lauded the Ogiek Community and Kalenjin Community for agreeing to have a dialogue towards the same.
“As a Government we are committed and that we shall sort out the issue of caveate so that people can engage in transformation agenda,” he stated.
The Deputy President was accompanied by Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones, Nakuru Woman Rep Liza Chelule her Nairobi counterpart Esther Passaris, MP Jayne Kihara (Naivasha) Area MCA Moses Koros, among others.
During the event DP Gachagua gave Presidential contribution of Ksh 3 million towards the launched Kathambi Chepkwony Foundation.
The Foundation seeks to offer support to the vulnerable members of the society in the community.
