A central stage for Free Area Tuk-Tuk operators will be established along Legacy Hotel Lane and at the East Road junction in Nakuru CBD to cater to all tuk-tuk operators.
This was revealed during a meeting between Nakuru City Manager Gitau Thabanja and Director of Enforcement Charles Nyanaro and the Free Area Tuk-tuk Leadership Group.
The meeting was attended by nine officials from various terminals.
“During the meeting, it was agreed that a central stage would be established along Legacy Hotel Lane and at the East Road junction to cater to all tuk-tuk operators,” he stated.
While this main stage will serve as the primary hub, the group will still continue operating from the existing seven smaller stages in the area.
The Tuk-tuk County Chairman Joseph Wahome was tasked to oversee the creation of a new leadership team specifically for the Free Area route tuk-tuks.
Thabanja reiterated that the County administration will work directly with this unified leadership structure to streamline operations and address any emerging issues.
Additionally, the enforcement department will ensure that tuk-tuks operate only from designated pickup points, avoiding any disorderly passenger handling.
All members present agreed to the plan and signed in support, recognizing it as the best way forward for the benefit of all operators.
The meeting was also attended by Tuktuk Nakuru East Sub-county Chairman, Daniel Omeke.
