Agikuyu Shrine to be set up in Naishi, Njoro to promote Cultural Heritage

Agikuyu Council of Elders’ (Kiama Kia Ma) shrine shall be set up in Naishi, Njoro Sub county.

This follows a move by County Government of Nakuru under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika handed over a public utility land for the same.

County Chief Officer for Public Participation and Citizen Engagement Edward Gitau and his counterpart for Tourism and Culture John Koech, on Wednesday July 10, 2027 handed over the public utility land – Lare Naishi block 1 (Naishi)585 to the Kiama-Kiama (a Kikuyu Elders Group).

The officers from county government revealed that this land will now be utilized to build a shrine.

According to the County Government of Nakuru, the Shrine will not only preserve the rich culture of the community but also provide educational opportunities for the younger generation.

The event was held in Lare ward, Njoro Sub-County.

The move is in line with the commitment of the County Government under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika to promoting cultural heritage.

An event that was also attended by area MCA Philip Wanjohi, Njoro Sub-County Administrator Julius Nyaata, ACC Lare Division, other leaders and a host of elders.
