President Ruto nominates Raila’s allies to Cabinet

President William Ruto has nominated former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s allies to Cabinet.

They include Ali Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi.

The Head of State in his address to the Nation on July 24, 2024 revealed that the move was as a result of extensive consultation.

Meanwhile, he made some changes in the earlier list of 11 that he had nominated.

Here is the full list as per the address on Wednesday July 24, 2024;

  1. Ministry of Defence: Hon. Roselinda Soipan Tuya
  2. Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry: Hon. Aden Barre Duale
  3. The National Treasury and Economic Planning: Hon.John Mbadi Ng’ongo
  4. Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry: Hon. Salim Mvurya Mgala

5.Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife: Ms. Rebecca Miano
6. Ministry of Energy and Petroleum: Hon. James Opiyo Wandayi
7. Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports: Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen
8. Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs: Hon. Hassan Ali Joho
9. Ministry of Labour and Social Protection: Hon. Dr Alfred Nganga Mutua
10. Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development: Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya
11. Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development: Hon. Justin Bedan Muturi
12. Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage: Ms. Stella Soi Lang’at

“I commend the leadership of diverse organisations, both in the public and private sectors, including political parties, for their
encouraging response to my outreach to consult on forming a broad-based government. Their willingness to set aside partisan positions and interests in order to join a visionary partnership for the radical transformation of Kenya is a historic gesture of their patriotism,” stated President Ruto.

The President expressed appreciation of their commitment and reiterated pledge to engage, alongside them, in a national conversation that is inclusive, citizen-centred and aimed at consolidating and accelerating the actualisation of inclusive growth and national transformation.
