Nakuru County Government to train artisans on Expanded Polysterene Technology

The County Government of Nakuru intends to train artisans on Expanded Polysterene (EPs).

This is an alternative Building Material Technology that replaces stones for walling.

The technique saves times and reduces resources by over 30 percent.

This was revealed during a consultative meeting with the County Secretary Dr.Samuel Mwaura alongside County Executive Committee member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development Hon John Kihagi and National Housing Cooperation(NHC) Board of Directors.

The team is also expected to come up with policies and a framework that will govern housing for urban cities according to the Urban And Cities Act (UACA) and the Bottom Up Economic Agenda( BETA).

The teams further discussed areas of collaboration and exploring joint partnerships in addressing housing challenges and scarcity in Nakuru.

The meeting underscored Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment in improving lives by providing decent and affordable houses.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Officer for Urban Development Kamau Kuria, Chief Officer for Finance Joseph Malinda, County Attorney Caleb Nyamwange and County Housing Director Benard Maruhi.
