As a way of empowering farmers, the County Government of Nakuru has partnered with the World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF).
The move will provide an enabling environment towards achievement of sustainable agriculture for improved livelihoods and climate resilience among members of cooperatives across the County.
According to County Coooperative Chief Officer Kibet Kurgat, the move will enable cooperative members to diversify their agricultural practices as well as enhance market exposure for their produce.
Kurgat spoke during farmers’ field day, courtesy of Njoro Sub-county Farmers’ Fruit Cooperatives, in partnership with WWF.
On his part WWF focal lead Manager William Ojuang highlighted that the partnership will go a long way in strengthening socio-economic growth among members of cooperative movements.
It should be noted that WWF has presence in more than 100 countries across the world that contributes towards providing an enabling environment for the achievement of sustainable natural resource management.
This initiative aligns with Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to empowering farmers through cooperatives.
The event was attended by officials from WWF and local farmers.
